How to access our services
Financial Counselling Service, Tenancy Service and the
Welfare Rights & Community Advocates Service
GCLC has a Duty Intake Officer (DIO) who, with the assistance of volunteers, is available Tuesday to
Friday from 9.30am-12.30pm. This is the first point of call for all of the above-mentioned enquiries. The
Duty Intake Officer will assess and assist the client as much as possible by way of information and/or
referral.
The Duty Intake Officer and volunteer is available to interview clients. Duty Intake is run on a
first-come, first-serve basis. We do not book appointments for our Duty Intake service.
Clients must attend this service to be assessed against GCLC's priority
guidelines for ongoing casework. GCLC developed this model to access the clients
most in need of our ongoing support and assistance.
Child Support, Family Law,
Domestic Violence and
Volunteer Legal Service
To access an appointment with a solicitor, clients must call GCLC and explain
their situation to us. We will then assess their situation and determine whether
this is an area of law that GCLC can give assistance on. If so, we will then book an
appointment for our day or night legal service. If we cannot assist in a particular area of law, clients
will be given 3 appropriate referrals to other agencies.
